Funeral Times

Sweet Momma returned home to her beloved Father yesterday morning at about 5 am.
We will be holding a viewing and funeral this week, and would invite all that would like to attend to come. Mom loves all of you!!! And we would love to see you!

Dad's update: please take a chair!!!

Today's update from Blake:
Kimberlee got a unit of blood yesterday to help her anemia. We also found out her sodium is low (121), so we have been trying to get more food in her to help get that up. Her nausea was less today so she was able to eat more, still not what I would like but more. Ensure drinks seem to be helping.  Her pain is being well controlled with a Fentanyl patch, so that means fewer pain pills by mouth, so I think that will help her nausea long term. She's been enjoying the oxygen, she started that last week. She is using it less these days. Usually always when she sleeps and if she gets short of breath during the day. Please don't be alarmed by the oxygen. It really helps her.

We had an MRI of her brain yesterday. We had a baseline done in April which was "unremarkable" and that term made Kimberlee a little sad. She thinks her brain is very remarkable. Yesterday's scan showed a 6mm mass in her temporal lobe. Not too surprising. Lung cancer loves to travel to the brain. So we will keep an eye on that. There are a couple other things on the scan we don't fully understand, but we will find out more as we go. There's nothing too concerning in the scan.

We are really concerned with Kimberlee's quality of life, everyday quality. So we are doing anything and everything we can to enrich her days. Such as the chair in the picture below. The blue chair she had been using was ok but not good enough. So today we took her to a store and found a power one that really fits her body well. It's a gray color that she really likes and she really likes the power option.

Our friends and family here in Yakima have insisted that we have meals five days a week again. The kids love this, I think they hate my cooking. That's ok, I hate cooking it! We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our Yakima friends. They are a great blessing in our hour of great need. Thank you so much!!!

We would ask that you keep her in your prayers. I'm trying to get her to Maui on the 9th of November. Please specifically pray that she will have the strength and desire to fly to paradise. We have a friend's house ready for her. It would be private and beautiful!

Trips and Transfusions

Been a super long time, so here is a huge post! :) But so is the busy college life, and with that I think Eliza is going to start taking over regular posts.

Recently the family went to a BYU game with some family friends in Seattle... of course we couldn't do this when I still lived at home... but there is a first time for everything! They were about 4 rows back, and had an amazing time even though BYU got demolished (because their lucky charm aka me, wasn't there;)).

Besides the game, Mom has been pretty anemic and super tired. But a few transfusions later, she is feeling worlds better! (Also look at all those sweet cards!!)

Mom has always wanted to go Palmyra, New York. So Mom and Dad planned a trip to go! After the game though, Mom was super tired and didn't feel very good! Dad was afraid they would have to cancel the trip Tuesday night. They were planning to leave on Friday, so on Thursday both sides of the family had a fast. She got exponentially better! Fasting has such an amazing strength! Mom and Dad are currently there, and have already gone to the Sacred Grove. And the pictures that I have gotten are below!:)

CT Scan- No Results

No real news. No change in tumors. She's anemic now. So that explains all the fatigue and coldness. We are taking a break from chemo for now.  We are thinking about a lung biopsy. Her tumor has changed somewhat and the radiologist thinks they have found a place that will yield a good sample. So we are back to possible gene therapy.  Mostly just tired.  If she's still anemic prior to our trip they will transfuse her. Round 6!

On Friday Mom completes her last round of chemo (hopefully)! She has a CT scan coming up, and with those results we will determine what type of treatment we will do next! We are very hopeful that the next thing will be immunotherapy!

Then on Saturday we decided to go ride bikes on one of our favorite trails in Tricities! We are so thankful to our friend that let us borrow the most amazing bike for mom! The girls came up multiple time and would ask, “Mom are you tired yet?” They should have been asking Dad! 

When they borrowed it I got this cute text from Momma! “My husband borrowed this bike to take to Richland and ride the river path there...so excited!  

I didn't know he would sit me in it and then take off to the high school where a football game is going and drive me past everyone we know...😂😂😂best was seeing Tanner and all his friends! Should have blown kisses at him...next time I'll be ready!

Memories are the molecules of eternity...want to have many for my kids...hope they see I gave them the best father ever! 🤗 life is good!!

Round 5 & CT Scan Results

Last Monday Mom had a CT scan, and on Friday we got the results back. This CT scan shows that the primary tumors have shrunken a little!! This means that the doctors think the treatment is being effective for now! We will have one more round of treatment (in 3 weeks), and then scan again to evaluate the next steps of treatment!

Long Beach

Last week we go to Long Beach! This was our second time there. Mom spent time on the beach, shopping, and painting! But the highlight for her was fulfilling her dreams of riding a horse on the beach!
