Ice Age Attitudes

Yesterday Mom went back to meet with the doctors to set up a plan for treatment. We were very discouraged though to find out that the doctors are still running more tests, and we won't get the results back for a few more WEEKS. They are running just a few more test to ensure that gene therapy won't work because the tests are all looking negative, and they want to do the correct treatment. Mom is starting to feel more discomfort and is tired even more. So in the meantime, the doctors want to start on chemo. We have got to do something and this just seems to be the current path. The doctors have said that Mom keeps "throwing curve balls" at them.

Currently, treatment is looking like chemotherapy, once a week, every three weeks. Mom has already started feeling nausea (even though we haven't started yet). Most likely her side effects will increase her nausea and will lead to hair "thinning." It is still unclear as to if she will go completely bald or not, just because everyone reacts a little different. So even though I might have two bald parents soon, we keep smiling and chugging along. And now I would like to quote Sid from Ice Age. He said, "My mother once told me that even though things look bad, there's a rainbow around every corner." And this is so true! Even with this current route of treatment, there are 2 major positives!! (1) Mom can do treatments here in town!! That means she can stay at home and doesn't have to travel a lot. (2) The chemo treatment she is receiving will be mild on her veins, but hard on her cancer... so that means for now she doesn't need a port!! We can do it all IV! (Mom really didn't want to get a port!)

***But I do need to make a huge note that with this treatment plan that if anyone is sick do not come and visit. She will be very susceptible to viruses, and that is just another thing that she does not need added to her plate.***

Thanks for all your prayers!!! This week we would really appreciate it if you guys would pray for two things in particular; (1) that the doctors will be inspired and have results back quickly, and (2) that our insurance will work quickly. Before we can start treatment the insurance has to clear us. Once we have that in line we will be ready to go! Again thanks for all the help!
